 LARGEST COAL MINE RESCUE OPERATION

Er. Jaswant Singh Gill (born on November 22, 1939) was a Coal Mining officer at Coal India Limited, West Bengal, India, which saved single-handedly 65 coal miners trapped 330 feet below ground in the flooded and collapsing Mahabir Coalmine of Raniganj Area in West Bengal using the Steel Capsule technique for the first time in history. He Went down to the Coal Mine at 2:30 am on 16th November 1989 and after sending out all the miners one by one was last to return to the ground the next morning at 9:00 am. This happened to be the most successful coal mine rescue. World Records India is proud to present our Certificate of Recognition for his outstanding contribution to society.
