OLDEST RAJASTHANI KALBELIYA FOLK DANCER

Gulabo Sapera, also known as Dhanvanti, is a renowned Rajasthani folk dancer and a pioneering figure in the Kalbelia dance form. Born in 1973 in the nomadic Kalbelia community of Rajasthan, she overcame significant societal challenges to bring global recognition to this traditional dance. In 2016, Gulabo Sapera was honored with the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian awards, acknowledging her contributions to the arts. She also performed live kalbeliya dance with her daughters at the Grand Award Ceremony of the 9th Genius Indian Achievers’ Award set a new record and was officially acknowledged by World Records India on May 3, 2025 at Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
